Bubble Lens Monocles

Goodness gracious I am so bad at blogging. I mean look at this, posting about my Bubble Lens Monocles so long after they've been made. The fact is that they haven't been as popular as I thought they would be. Although at this point the two gold monocles have been sold, and now only the silver ones remain.

Oh, and modeling these monocles is the lovely Modded Minimee Head of Aoi of Gazette fame. I am by no means a fan of Gazette or of j-rock for that matter, but the head was practically a steal! And since I really needed a modeling head I couldn't pass him up.

So that's what's been up in my dollie world. Hopefully I'll be cooking up some new dollie crafts to send out into the world very soon~

New Dollies

Ever since I sold my SD boy I've been filling that empty hole he left behind with other dolls.

My Hujoo arrived Wednesday, and I think she's a white skin... although I ordered normal. I'm not too concerned. Not to mention I already modded her ^^;;

Although I did say Blythes were primadonna material I couldn't help it and bought an ADG blonde. She's going to be named Emma Ego. She's in the process of being customized. I almost died from fatigue after I scalped her and gave her brain surgery. Damn that Ashton Drake for making their eye mechs so stubborn. In any case, now, I want a redhead (Ily Id) and a brunette (Lexis Super) to complete my "Psychic Apparatus".

Now I'm pining for a Dal. I've always wanted one, but never considered it realistically until now. She will be customized as well.

I really do like customizing my dollies. Stock dolls are uncool. I only buy dolls so I can make them mine through customization.

I'll be keeping an eye out for intriguing dolly faces.

I'm still hopelessly in love with Dollmore's Cecile, but he'll have to wait.

Finding New Creative Outlets

I haven't been updated by blog nearly enough. I just find it hard to find the words to sum up a tumultuous thought process.

So lately I've been rethinking my previous BJD ways. With my DIM Achernar and all his stuff leaving it's hard to feel excited about them. Upwards of $300 a doll is hard for me to manage right now, so I've been looking elsewhere for excitement.

I recently purchased a Hujoo doll - basic, normal skin, closed eyes. (I think "Hujoo" is just silly. It's the English word "Huge" pronounced in Korean and then written in back into English! har har) The Korean doll company recently turned up an English site. I was quite excited, to say the least. I just was waiting for them to release the basic kits in the "closed eyes". I like the big-headedness of them, but I'm not too too crazy about the buggy eyes, so I'm planning on modding the less-than-half-open eyes open to my tastes.

Another thing about the Hujoos is that they're made of ABS and not resin which makes them a lot more wallet-friendly. The non-resinality of them may be a turn-off to a lot of BJD enthusiasts, but I'm more open about dolls. Plus, the ABS kind of reminds me of my Obitsu roots.

Talking about my roots, I dug out my Kelly & friends 4.5" dolls that have been sitting in a box since BJDs took over my life. A had bought a lot of them with plans on customizing them, but I never got around to it. So yesterday I gave a lot of them the attention they deserved. I made myself a nice mutant doll collection. They are not the Kellys most people recognize. They have become "my girls" and they are quite... interesting. I'll get some pictures up when they're all put together and clothed. I don't think they particularly like being naked. I need to name them still. I'm working on that.

I've really been branching out on the dolly front ever since the collapse of the BJD front. I've been looking into Blythes, but I don't think they're for me. They have a bit of a primadonna attitude that I just can't take. Although, I've been really hooked on the idea of a Petit Blythe even during my BJD days. I think she could fit in with the girls... maybe.

So, just a lot of stuff going on. Just not BJD stuff. Gotta keep those creative juices flowing, right?

Saying, "Good-bye."

I've been forced into a corner. I'm leaving BJDs, at least until I am more financially stable and able to handle the monetary pressures of this hobby.

It's pretty heartbreaking, but I'm a realist. I am in need of a new car and as I am not made of money, I'm currently in the process of liquidating a lot of my valuable goods, and that includes my dolls and doll things.

I know I had planned on selling my Achernar a while now, but knowing that SungWoon, the character, won't be coming home for a long time makes me sad. His SD body is for sale and it won't be replaced with an MSD until who-knows-when.

I plan on selling wigs and eyes and clothes and other BJD related stuff too.

I'm really thinking about keeping Kamen. I don't even know how much Kamen will sell for seeing how modded he is now. Maybe I can still make SD stuff even without a whole doll. I'll have to think more on it.

In any case, it's time to say, "good-bye" to a lot of my things, and realize that they are just "things" for now.

Kamen the More Modded, among other things.

I just can't keep my hands off of Kamen!

He's been modded more and now he looks really feminine. Although, I attribute a lot of that to the current faceup.

I did some major work on him. I sanded his nose more and thinned the bridge plenty. I also reshaped the mouth and gave him teeth. Oh, how those teeth kill me. Gosh they're so cute! I think I love him more and more... even though he's just a floating head. That may even be his charm. I love that he can look however he wants and I don't feel guilty about it. Not like fixed characters where when something is off it's just not good enough.

He's wearing the long black wig now and sitting on my desk on his Batchix bust. He looks absolutely gorgeous. Very lovely. I might hold onto him a bit longer although I could use the cash in reshelling SungWoon and bringing home Wooju. How I'd love that.

I feel that my heart has left my DIM Achernar. It now resides with the two Dollmore kids, Pado & Cecile. Oh how I wish for them to be with me now. My mother, who insists on calling my Achernar my "boyfriend" says she feels sad to have to see him go. She asks me why I have to "break up" with him -_-;;; I guess some relationships aren't forever. My father tells me I should buy a dog if I want to go waste my money -_-;;;; Although I'd love a dog I don't have enough time to be taking care of another LIVING thing. I just told him that dogs poop too much, which is also true - compared to dolls, that is^^

In other news, my Bobobie Erin, Lola has finally found a new home. I'm sure she'll love it as she will be a first doll. First dolls get a lot of attention... at least at the beginning ^^;;; *thinks of Achernar.

In any case, I'm ready for some change in my BJD hobby-oriented lifestyle!

Downsizing

I've always thought about this whenever I've changed my boy's clothes... he's just too heavy. I feel like I'm weight training when I'm holding him up with one hand. So I've thought up a solution. It may be impulsive (I feel like this hobby is rife with opportunities to be rash) but I want to downsize.

I'm thinking of going MSD. I love DIM SD sculpts so much and Achernar's been my first love but... I dunno I'm not feeling the size right now. It's really a pain to take him home with me whenever I go on break. He's just that cumbersome.

I'm very much wanting to reshell SungWoon into a Dollmore Pado. Plus, with some extra cash maybe I'll be afford another doll - cute Dollmore Cecile to be Wooju. Two is always better than one~

I'm just very concerned about letting go of my Achernar. I'm not sure I can go through with it. That sculpt is just so... so... <3

I just think it's time for a positive change.
This is positive, right?

Face-uped Kamen Ultra Mod

I think this is his third face-up since I modded him.
I was really unsatisfied w/the first two and this one is alright.
I fell like I'll be changing it up again soon,
but for now this is what Kamen looks like...
very dramatic.

Kamen Ultra Mod

I took my Soom Namu off the market because there was very little interest for him as he was. So I modded him some more. I tried my hand at eye mods. I used some epoxy sculpt to make the eyes smaller. I'd always thought his eyes were too big. It's just not manly. Plus, I sanded his nose down some more and defined his chin a bit. I think now he vaguely reminds me of Abadon from Luts. I'll give him a face-up once I get some more sealer.

Bye Bye Lola

I've had Lola (Bobobie Erin) for only 3 months now, but I think it's time that I let her go. I love my SD boy and the tiny really isn't a good scale match. It all just looks too weird for me. Plus, I feel like I need to liquidate some of my assets to get closer to the bigger goal of DIM Robel.

Bye Bye Kamen

I've decided to bite the bullet and let go of Kamen my Soom Namu.
I love this sculpt so much, but this hobby isn't easy on the pockets.
Sometimes you have to make sacrifices...
I'm trying to save for a DIM Robel and my dear Namu has to go.
(I've always considered Robel to be Namu's younger brother^^)
Kamen has been so good to me, but I'm saying, "good-bye."

Bye Bye Shiwoo

I've finally decided to sell him.

I've loved this sculpt for a long time...
(ever since I started this hobby)
and I loved the fact that I had the opportunity to have one
(albeit for a short time)
but apparently I don't love him enough to need him and want to keep him.
I just don't get those warm and fuzzies with this guy.
I guess CPs are not for me...
(go D.I.M. ! - I'm still dying to get my hands on a Robel^^)

School's OUT!

Now that the semester is finally over...
I have the time to get back to business.

The spectacles are coming along...
I'm still fiddling w/the prototype pair,
and they look pretty neat~

I have the vinyl masks
and the masquerade goggles
on the back burner at the moment...
I don't have the appropriate ribbon and
some gold jump rings haven't showed up!

I've heard from home that my Bobobie Erin has arrived!
I hope to see her soon.

I need to give my boys new faceups,
but I need to get some more paint medium.

I still really want a Petit Blythe!

In any case...
Christmas is only a week away!!!

Pleasant Surprise

I received my Shiwoo head in the mail today.
I'm so glad^^ It's just as I thought!
Nothing a little ethyl acetate and a magic sponge couldn't fix~

I realized how much the CP noses are unappealing to me.
As of now I'm leaning towards keeping my Namu
and selling the Shiwoo after a fixup.

We'll see what happens next after I give them both new faceups.

Brain NOT on Studies

I've been thinking it over
instead of studying...

I think I really want a Petit Blythe.
I know I think the larger ones are aesthetically awkward,
but the small ones are endearing.
Plus, I really want the MegaHouse animal furniture sets
and a 1/12 dollhouse to put it in...
and then of course I'd need someone to live in it.
(You see where this is going?)
Although a PocketFairy would fit they're really not to scale...
because they're babies!(I don't have the money anyway)

I've also been thinking...
I need to get some shoes for SungWoon.
He's going to be barefoot forever it seems.
And I'm going to get some 14mm eyes for him.
I liked the sweet innocent look from the 16mm,
but I think it's time for an image upgrade.

So many things to think about besides my studies...

Impulse Purchases

I believe there is something terribly wrong with me.
I just bought myself a Bobobie WS Erin.

I'm supposed to be studying!
but instead I'm ogling over little bitty Erin.
She wasn't even on my wanted list. It was ALL impulse!
I of course was supposed to be saving for my dear DIM Robel...
but now I've been sidetracked.

I'm really excited. I'm sure she'll look adorable!
The reviews of the Bobobie tinies have been really good.
(The price is one of Erin's most the attractive features.)

I sent her home.
I hope I get there before she does...
I still have a week left to go.

In other news,
(an impulse buy I made a week ago)
I bought a damaged Shiwoo dreaming head for a bargain.
I'm hoping it's not as damaged as I think it might be.
I really really want to be pleasantly surprised.
I've always loved the Shiwoo dreaming head...
but I've never had a character for it to justify a purchase.
Now it looks like I'll have two floating heads.
There's no point in that so...
I'll have to decide which one to let go.
I'll think more about it once I get home.

Now, to study... maybe.
