So I've had spring shopping on my mind, and this set is just an example of the types and styles of things that I've been wanting.

1. Embellished Whitish Cardigan - I keep thinking "investment pieces" and I figure a white cardigan should be a staple of every woman's wardrobe. Surprisingly, I don't have one yet although I've been meaning to get one. I think this is the perfect opportunity to get one for myself. Of course, just any old cardigan would be too boring. I'm looking for feminine details like rhinestones, beads, sequins, frills and bows!

2. Voluminous Bottoms - I'm thinking of both skirts and shorts. I would very much like to wear shorts to work. The longer length, I think, makes shorts office friendly. As for a skirt... lace is a nice detail for spring! Or perhaps a flower print~

3. Reptile Pumps - I've been meaning to get some black work pumps. It's another one of those staples that every woman should have. And of course I just can't live with the boring basics so I'm thinking texture. I really love reptile. I'm just a fan of animal prints in general. I guess this would fit into that category.

4. Nudie Pink Ballet Flats - I've had "leather flats" on my shopping list for the longest time, but I haven't really found any that have been catching my eye. That's probably because I've been looking for black flats. I guess I'm just not a fan of black flats. On the other hand, I love nude tone flats - light pink to beige. I'm not sure exactly what about it, but perhaps it's the illusion of no shoes...

I will be on the prowl for these items in the coming weeks. I hope it'll be warmer so I can actually get the feel for spring.

Alexander McQueen, may he have found perfection in peace.

The news of Alexander McQueen's death by suicide certainly shocked the fashion world. The man was known for his boundless creativity and his work that always seemed to shock and awe...

I can't say I was a great fan of McQueen. That isn't to say that I disliked his work. I absolutely acknowledge the genius of McQueen - the tight and yet voluminous, the sharp and yet organic, the bold and yet understated. It is difficult to describe because it was always that je ne sais quoi of a collection, of a piece, of an idea that positively screamed "McQueen!" His style was uniquely his own. I'd have to say everything was always so perfectly off and therefore strangely eerie. And perhaps it was that that sense of perfection in his work that putt me off, the reason I never really got to love McQueen. Because to me his clothes were like ice sculptures and I've always naturally gravitated towards snowmen.

To conclude, I must say that he was a great man. And as proof I cite the fact that although I'm a big fan of fashion I have only once blogged about a designer's work. That work was of course that of Mr. Alexander McQueen. He has left an indelible impression upon me and the rest of the world. May he rest in peace.

The Stuff of Nightmares

I've been looking through all the fall 2009 ready-to-wear runway shows again. I'm looking for inspiration for my own fall wardrobe, since the weather really has taken a turn.

Of course this led me to re-examine Alexander McQueen's f09rtw collection. The first time I saw it I seriously could NOT focus on the clothes. The makeup he had on those girls was seriously the stuff of nightmares.

It is the freakiest thing I have ever seen.

the Summer Romper cont.

It's been several months since my last post. I haven't been dilly-dallying, but I've just been neglecting to blog. Shall we say I'm not the most diligent blogger.

Anyway, back to those rompers!

I have always been a fan of eBay as far as finding those specific vintage goodies; especially because thrift stores and whatnots in this area are very lacking to say the least. Not to mention I'm not as hardcore as I could be when it comes to thrifting. So thanks to the wonderful eBay the first to rompers I show you today found their way into my life and closet.

So, this first find just tickled my fancy and I decided I had to own it. The yellow with the contrasting black and tie-dye nonetheless! Plus the magenta and purple accents. How 80s fantastic! I styled my outfit much in the same manner that the model did, but I can't help but wonder if I'd be able to pull it off much better if I were a bleach-blond.

Again from eBay. The looseness of this one got me. Plus, I have to admit the model wearing this one is quite exquisitely styled not to mention tall and lean, which I am unfortunately not.

Lastly, I've got this nice denim piece which happens to be one owned and worn by my very own mother. I remember she tried to make me wear it a few years ago, but I just wasn't feeling it then. But now I think it's something I'm willing to do.

So thus ends my quest to find a summer romper. I'm not sure if any of these are quite summery enough to count as a "summer romper," but in any case I'm done with the rompers I've moved onto other vintage must haves. However, that's for another post, another time.

the Summer Romper

The weather has really been warming up, to the point where it's been almost unbearable. I suppose that's also due to the heat in conjunction with the pollen.

In any case, I've been wanting to buy a short jumper/romper thing, but I haven't been really looking. Monday of all days, I was wandering the mall when I saw a really cute jersey romper at Express! (I usually don't shop Express, but sometimes you can be surprised.) So I've been on the hunt for rompers since.

So, first is the express romper in that slate gray I love so much.


Then, this is a funky one from MODcloth. I like the loose cut, but I'm not so sure about the pattern. I think it's too dark, personally.


Third, is a pretty unique one I found on eBay from Bows and Arrows Vintage. I like the batwing top with the shortness of the shorts. I like the funky detailing. I like the color, but I'm not sure if I'd really end up wearing it.


Lastly, is another eBay find from Trendsetter Vintage. It looks really simple. A clean cut and summery print with bold colors makes this one pretty attractive as well, but I'm not sure how I'd fit in this one.


I think I'll keep an eye out for more romper finds. I'm definitely not committed to anything right now. I'll keep my options open. I'm having fun looking...

Polyvore!

I really haven't posted in a while. I guess that's just a testament to how mundane my life is. In any case, it's not like anything new or exciting has been happening in my life. Well, I check blogs everyday for constant inspiration, but I haven't had much to gush about.

Recently I've been in with Polyvore and have just loved it. Although, that might have been a week or two ago. The passion has faded and now it's more of like a steady admiration. And now, in the face of a huge paper I should be writing I have decided to blog about it for the sake of procrastination.

I am absolutely in love with the black and dusty pink color palette. Too bad I don't own anything dusty pink. It is just one of those colors that I have not been too fond of until very recently and only in combination with a rough black. I would love a dusty pink boyfriend blazer. That would be lovely for me, except I am currently in no position to be spending money, unfortunately. But, of course, I can wish.
